Powerline Horizontal Directional Drilling Operators/Locators
Full-time

Starting Pay

Job Duties

  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit, power CNC and fiber optic cable.
  • Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
  • Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
  • Read utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities.
  • Ensure all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site.
  • Measure distances from grade stakes, lasers and GPS coordinates.
  • Move and relocate RF and Fiber service.
  • Vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.
  • Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment.
  • Familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Operate horizontal directional drill (HDD) for the installation of powerlines Additional certification training preferred
  • City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related.

Job Duties

  • Fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting, discriminate between colors
  • Maintains/repairs and tests copper cable and/or fiber optic cable in an underground, aerial, or buried environment.
  • Maintaining, stocking and cleaning the  crew truck
  • Receives service orders, worksheets (detailed diagrams describing nature and location of equipment to be installed or repaired) and repair tickets from supervisor or other designated employees and performs specified work.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by providing street cones, working signs and overseeing the safety of anyone operating in or around the job site locations.

Job Duties

  • Understands and reviews RFPs and related specifications, drawings and technical materials.
  • Performs take-offs and other calculations required to assemble project estimate.
  • Assembles a timely, compliant proposal document for assigned RFPs
  • Works with all team members to build reliable, comprehensive cost estimates including job plan analysis, review of the scope of work, preparation of accurate and detailed material take-offs, estimation and determination of all job-related costs and other activities as needed.
  • Work with subcontractors and vendors to get complete, timely and accurate pricing, schedules and other materials required for estimates and RFP responses. 
  • Daily communication with team members, customer and the ability to present project estimates

Requirements

  • Experience estimating overhead and underground electrical transmission & distribution projects.
  • Ideal candidate would also have experience estimating overhead and underground fiber optic projects.
